LA Cops is a game that is all about teamwork. All of its bad guy-ousting missions involve two police officers of your choice, as you pick which ones to take into the field based on their abilities. For example, if you've levelled one of the characters up so that their bullets deal a phenomenal amount of damage, then it's a good idea to team them up with the officer you've turned into a total bullet sponge. This also gives you greater freedom about the way you tackle levels, making LA Cops incredibly replayable.
With teamwork clearly being so important to everything you do in the game, it always seemed unusual that LA Cops didn't launch with multiplayer. Thankfully, the teams at developer Modern Dream and publisher Team17 realise this, which is why local co-op multiplayer has been added to the game in the latest update.
LA Cops Local Co-Op Multiplayer
Once you install the patch, the LA Cops home menu should look like the above screenshot. Co-op mode 'allows each player to choose a cop and control them exclusively', though player two will need an extra Xbox 360 controller, PS4 controller, or a mouse and keyboard in order to play. Given that the LA Cops update in December introduced the Hardcore and Nightmare difficulty modes, you and your pal will be able to give yourself a real challenge.

Local co-op multiplayer is the headline feature here, but this patch also includes a new feature for players in single player mode too. There are now context sensitive commands that allow you to 'wrangle more control over your AI partner'. The new commands are: make an arrest, destroy that door, and kill.
